BIOSKETCH

Hello! My name is Jessica and I currently live in the Gainesville, Florida area. Nursing is my second career. I worked for the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County for 10 years as a Health Educator prior to going to nursing school. During my time at the Health Department, I worked for many community outreach programs and was able to obtain a master’s in public health.

The Public Health field is very limited for those without clinical experience, so I decided to go to nursing school. I graduated from Santa Fe College with my ADN in August 2023 and passed the NCLEX in September of the same year. I have been working for UF Health Shands Hospital for the past three years on the Lung Transplant unit. Last year, I took a position as a School Nurse at a local middle school because the schedule is more conducive for family life. I remain at the hospital PRN.

I am pursing my baccalaureate degree in nursing at the University of Florida because of the doors and opportunities it can open for me in the future. One of my goals for this year is to run a half marathon.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for the last 15 years. My husband is an Electrical Engineer here in Gainesville.  We have two kids, 12 and 10, and a 4-year-old yellow lab. I love to read, go to Disney, and I have an unhealthy obsession with antiques.
